How Not To Do Retail
Wow. I was shopping last night at the 'ol mall (that would be Christiana Mall), and our first stop was Strawbridge's. Um, really not impressed here. When I was up wandering around Manhattan with some friends a couple of months ago, we stopped at a shop - I don't even remember which one - and we were approached by two (!) clerks asking if they could help us find something. At Strawbridge's, though, my wife and I spent between five and ten minutes walking around looking for a clerk. They have "Price Check" locations, and clerks on the floor to help find things, but God forbid you want to actually buy something! Then you have to find a "Service Center" that's a) manned, b) manned by somebody who can help you, and c) in the department where you collected your stuff.
You know what? Skip it. Just buy stuff on the Internet. Here's a good place to start - American Apparel.
