Cool Hoodie via Cool Hunting

The latest item from the ongoing Puma and Vexed Generation collaboration is this urban cycler hoodie. More functional than the Anticon Hoodie, but aesthetically similar, this one has a built in face mask with removable filters. The jacket also features reflective piping and special flaps to keep your backside dry while riding in the rain.

The Dangers of Blue Water Yacht Racing!

Two trimarans capsized about 280 miles south-west of the Isles of Scilly. A third lost its mast about 170 miles off the islands on Tuesday morning.A French warship, an RAF Nimrod plane, merchant vessels and fishing vessels are also involved in the rescue.

The yachts are part of a fleet of 34 competing in the Transat Jacques Vabre race between Le Havre and Brazil.

New Site Is Up!

I am so tired....

The new site is up - version 6 of www.bears-pa.com. Back by popular demand is the on-line ordering! With a shopping cart! It's a little bit different this time around, as I'm using PayPal's shopping cart instead of my own. Also, there's what feels like an extra step in there, but it's necessary. There are a couple of things I still want to fix, such as a button here or there that's missing the graphics. I also want to make the correct link for "continue shopping" from the shopping cart. But for now, it's functional.

I've created a new blog. It is for the Delaware Valley Modernists. Yes, yes, it's an architecture blog. Of course, there's also an RSS feed available for it; feel free to follow along. If you happen to also be a modernists, there will soon be my mailing list available at DelValMod.com.

Proposed F1 Rear Wing Design Change

Last week, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, which administers Formula 1, proposed a solution. It proposed a new design that incorporates a "Centreline Downwash Generating Wing." Instead of the traditional rear wing on the car, which generates "downforce" that helps keep the car on the road, the CDG wing design consists of two smaller wings over each of the rear wheels.

The result is much less turbulence behind the car, which should allow for more passing.

Wired News: Formula 1 Eases Into Passing Lane

Now this would be very interesting. I love watching F1 (even though most of the races are broadcast at 0730 on Sunday mornings). This would definitely make for more overtaking during the races, since there's less aerodynamic disadvantage to closing the distance behind the leading car.

As for NASCAR being popular because of passing, well, I'll keep my opinions of NASCAR and its fans to myself....

Marmol Radziner Prefab Modern

660 interior s.f.,360 deck s.f.,1 bedroom, 1 bath base price of $215,000 (1 house module,1 deck module)

MARMOL RADZINER Prefab

That comes out to a mere $326 per square foot, plus cost of site work. So much for the idealistic concept that prefabrication technology will make modern design affordable for normal people....
