Name choosen, and a new home

The boat's name is now Puddleduck.  Soon to be official (as soon as she's all mine, and officially registered in Maryland).

She'll be at the Tidewater Marina, in a slip.  Tidewater is in Havre de Grace, Maryland, which is a pretty short trip for both Loretta and me.  Pictures to follow soon.  This is the marina that hosts the Havre de Grace Yacht Club, with which I've raced in the past.  This is convenient, since I can just walk over from my slip to race with the J/24s. I haven't decided if I'll race Puddleduck.

America's Cup

Ok, so my litlte Columbia isn't in the same league (or even the same body of water), but the standings from Valencia, as of this afternoon, are:

New Boat

I bought a boat.  Finally.  She's a 1979 Columbia 26K.  She's the one tied up to the pier, not the Catalinia 30 floating in the background.....  This is a picture taken by the previous owner.  Expect to see a lot more, since there's a bunch of cleaning and modification work to do.

I'm going to the VOR!!!

I've been given a media credential to go shoot the Baltimore activities of the Volvo Ocean Race.  I plan to drive down on Wednesday to shoot the boats while they're out of the water, and perhaps get some shots of the crews.....

Volvo Ocean Race in Baltimore!

I have to say, I'm deleriously excited.  The Volvo Ocean Race, leg 5, terminates in Baltimore.  The boats arrived over the past three days.  I personally root for Paul Cayard on the Black Pearl, but just having this race in Baltimore is fantastic, regardless of who's in first (the Pearl is currently in third).  I hope to have pictures up sometime next week.
